Heart of gold

I see her every day. I so much like her ways. She spreads only happiness and pleasure making souls and spirits gay. In the twisted and dark dungeons of life, she is like a bright ray. She is Miss Emily Grey who lives next to me. When she comes over to my place I am filled with excitement and glee. She always says to me, ‘work hard Dipsie and don’t expect in return a reward’. God has already gifted you with life as an award. One day she nearly got hurt trying to save a little boy’s life. I am surprised by her kindness and her spirits which are always on a rise. She one day spent hours dressing my wound. And gave me a box full of candies. She keeps on giving me routinely tips that come so very handy. She says sharing is caring always and that it takes little to be kind and nice. And that life must have both the good and bad aspects to balance it which add the needed sugar and spice. She takes care of everyone in this world even creatures of her garden whether it is a dog, parrot or garden mice. She takes extra care and shows concern for old people, the leftovers, who according to some have no use anymore and who appear an unwanted burden. She can surely be angry with you but that’s a short stint after which she will cuddle you and you will see this sweet scenario pretty often. She has a peaceful charm, she cannot do anyone any harm. She keeps me guessing about her character and personality because it has so many good qualities and I really love her sweet smile. She is always the ‘Good Samaritan’ doing useful things out of which one is the regular visits to spend time with the children at the nearest Brighton hospital even if it is for a while. I am filled with great respect for this lady. It appears she has had a life full of tragedies. Because behind that smile there is a sadness which she hides to fill other’s life with glory and gladness. I like her and think of her as my grandma. She dearly loves me and my sis Emma. Despite the wrinkles, the dark circles under her eyes and the bent figure indicating she is quite old, she is beautiful beyond comparison, a God-sent angel who lives for others and would die for a good cause indicating she is adorned with a heart of gold.
