Hello everyone. Hope you all are riding divine horses from heaven and are happy, happy. I want all of you to meet a very lively, vibrant personality, the lifeline of Sherapalli village in Tamilnadu, our one and only Kolavadi di. In her late 60s, she can often be seen in a light-colored saree either plucking flowers for her puja or fooling innocent people if she can. She is a multifaceted powerhouse of talent and energy. She likes to dance, to preach and talk, and offers fake lucky draw tickets to the annual fair of the village, looting the meager amounts and treating herself well to sweets and favorites. She loves to eat but doesn’t love to cook. She loves kids but does not have one. Kolavadi is into any and every business of the village, legal or not, though basically she makes and sells bamboo baskets for a humble living. She has many dreams to fulfill but she knows not how to. From being a clever thief stealing veggies and fruits from neighbors orchard, giving girls arrogant and ‘do what you want to do speeches’, finding time posing for the nearby town’s radio station or even paint a romantic shade, Kolavadi is the permanent ultimate attraction which Sherapalli does not afford otherwise. She is the morning glory, afternoon buzz, and sweet evening goodbye call of the village. She spreads joys and colors around and cannot let anyone in her sight, feel hopeless or sad ever. Kolavadi Di is the reason we smile and a reason for feeling celebrated, happy, and united forever by love in life and maybe after it also.
